Making chipotle pepper puree at home is quick and easy and is a great way to get chipotle taste spread throughout dishes. Chipotle puree is also easy to store for long periods of time.

I like to add chipotle puree to many different dishes. It helps to add a smokiness and heat without overpowering a dish. I’ll use chipotle puree in soups, stir-fries, or in blue cheese dressings. You can also use the chipotle puree in marina sauces or BBQ sauces for an added kick.

Chipotle Puree Recipe

Making your own chipotle puree at home is very simple. All you need is some chipotle peppers in adobo sauce. You can make homemade chipotle peppers in adobo sauce or buy it canned. We like to use Embasa or La Costena chipotle peppers in adobo sauce.

To make the chipotle puree, just place the chipotle peppers in adobo sauce into a blender, and puree until smooth. That’s all there is to the chipotle pepper puree recipe.

Some people like to add more vinegar or garlic to the chipotle puree and you can fool around with additional spices to add even more nuanced flavors. You can even add things like pineapple juice or orange juice or even honey to give it a nice sweetness you normally wouldn’t find.

Now you can use the chipotle puree however you want.

Chipotle Puree from Dried Chipotles

You can also make chipotle puree from dried chipotles. You can normally find the dried chipotles in the grocery store. You have to add some more ingredients to the dried chipotle puree since it doesn’t have the complex flavors of the adobo sauce.

Simply soak the chipotles in hot water for about 30 minutes, then puree them in a food processor or blender with some lime juice, apple cider vinegar, and garlic. It should be a nice, smooth chipotle puree when it is done.

Storing Chipotle Puree

You can store chipotle puree in many ways, from the freezer to canning it. We will often make a larger batch of chipotle puree and then we’ll freeze it in a thin layer in a ziplock bag. Whenever we need some puree we’ll just break a piece or two off and add it to the dish. It’s a great way to always have chipotle puree on-hand.

Where to Buy Chipotle Puree
